The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) solemnly observes the 24th anniversary of the tragic attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

On September 11, 2001, almost 3,000 innocent lives were taken from us including 343 firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, eight paramedics and EMTs, and 55 military personnel.

As we reflect on the lives lost that fateful day, we also pay tribute to the families left behind and remember the extraordinary selflessness and resolve of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice in giving all to serve, protect, and save others.

On Thursday, September 11, 2025, LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone attended the Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LAFD) annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony held at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in the City of Los Angeles. Chief Marrone was joined by various city and County dignitaries, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, LAFD Interim Chief Ronnie Villanueva, Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, and more.

In addition to the LAFD 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, LACoFD personnel also attended events held at the Los Angeles County Fire Museum in the City of Bellflower and Fallen Heroes Memorial, located at the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale.

The LACoFD vowed to never forget the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. May each of us continue to hold close to our hearts all those left behind and give of ourselves to others through acts of service and charity.
