In this edition of Size-Up, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) spotlights the recent appointment achieved by Heidi Oliva in the newly approved Communications Division.

Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone made an official announcement regarding the appointment of Heidi to the position of Communications Manager (UC) on June 1, 2025.

An integral member of the Los Angeles County workforce, Heidi started her career as a Student Worker in 1997. With over 28 years of dedicated experience with the LACoFD, Heidi worked diligently through the years to rise through the administrative and managerial ranks, having served as the Executive Support Division manager, Grants Section manager, administrative services manager to the Chief Deputy of Emergency Operations, and Interim Executive Assistant to retired Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby.

Heidi is a graduate of California State University, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, also completed the Los Angeles County Executive Leadership Development Program, and continues to serve as the 1st Vice Chair for the Quality and Productivity Commission Executive Committee after having served as the Chair for two years.

In her new role, Heidi will lead the newly rebranded Communications Division, formerly known as the Executive Support Division, which includes the Public Information Office/Special Events Section, Communications Section, Headquarters Support Section, and Public Education Unit.

As the LACoFD’s Communications Manager, Heidi will manage the Fire Department’s communication strategies, media relations, and public outreach emphasizing the Department’s mission, vision, core values, and services.

The Department is pleased to recognize Heidi on her recent appointment to lead the Communications Division.
