LACoFD Welcomes EMS Fellows, Dr. Arab and Dr. Warren! 150 150 Ron Fisher

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) is proud to welcome Dr. Bijan Arab and Dr. Jonathan Warren who are participating in a fellowship program through a partnership with the Department, Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency, and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

This fellowship program prepares emergency physicians to become EMS specialists and eventually work as medical directors of an EMS program or fire agency.  Both Drs. Warren and Arab hold qualifications in emergency medicine and plan to further specialize in prehospital medicine.  From July 2024 to June 2025, these doctors will participate in EMS ride-alongs that provide invaluable opportunities for them to accompany our paramedics and gain insights into the Departments operations.

Dr. Bijan Arab joins the LACoFD as an incoming EMS fellow at Harbor-UCLA and brings a wealth of experience having successfully completing his residency in Emergency Medicine at Corewell Health South in St. Joseph, Michigan.  His passion for EMS began in 2010 while working in Maryland where he began exploring and pursuing integrating evidence-based practice into EMS protocols while continuing to develop his leadership skills.  Alongside his professional endeavors, Dr. Arab is excited to explore the restaurants in Los Angeles, he loves to travel, and enjoys plant collecting.

Dr. Jonathan Warren joins the LACoFD as an incoming EMS fellow at Harbor-UCLA doing a combined Ultrasound/EMS fellowship over the next two years.  His interests include clinician wellbeing, medical education, ultrasound, and EMS.  Using these skills enables him to explore the intersection of prehospital medicine and ultrasound and learn how these diagnostic tools can be best implemented in the field.  Alongside his professional endeavors, Dr. Warren can be found taking astrophotography photos or hiking through National Parks.

The LACoFD extends a warm welcome and sincere appreciation to Drs. Arab and Warren for their commitment and contribution to the fellowship program and the communities we serve.
