Celebrating National Nurses Week 1024 538 Leslie Carrasco

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) proudly celebrates National Nurses Week from Wednesday, May 6, through Tuesday, May 12, 2026. This week is an opportunity to recognize and honor LACoFD nurses, along with all nurses across Los Angeles County, for their essential role in delivering emergency services, compassionate care, and ongoing support to individuals and families across our communities.

This year, Teri Salmon, RN, MSN, PHN, has been selected as the Department’s Nurse of the Year. Ms. Salmon has been a nurse for 19 years and has been with the Los Angeles County since 2012. Prior to joining the LACoFD in 2022, she worked at Olive View Hospital and Public Health. She is a Senior Nursing Instructor assigned to the Quality Improvement (QI) section of the Training and Emergency Medical Services Bureau. Congratulations to Ms. Salmon on receiving this honor.

The LACoFD is thankful to have a team of highly skilled and committed nurses who go above and beyond in providing continuing education, preventative health care, and QI initiatives. Their efforts are essential in strengthening our healthcare systems and ensuring the wellbeing of our residents.

Let us come together to show our appreciation for their hard work, compassion, and professionalism. Please join the LACoFD in celebrating Nurse Recognition Week and expressing our gratitude to the nurses who serve the Los Angeles Countywith excellence and dedication.
