The Optimist Club was very generous in recognizing a County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) 18-year veteran and now Captain who has served the City of Pomona for ten years.
In a prior assignment he served for nine years as a fire fighter paramedic and has since returned to Pomona as Captain at Fire Station 186, on the City’s north side. He also inspires the next generation of community leaders, public servants, and potential firefighters through LACoFD’s Explorer Program.
Among the many, one special event that he prioritizes is the Optimist Club of Pomona Holiday Student Shopping Spree giving deserving children and youth an opportunity to go shopping for toys or clothing at no cost to them or their families. Joining the shopping spree participants as near-peers and guides you will see Explorers to help the event run smoothly and make it even more memorable.
So, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Optimist Club of Pomona honored Captain Eric McNamara with the City of Pomona Public Safety Award.
Then, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in the company of his wife Erica, Deputy Fire Chief Eleni Pappas, Acting Assistant Fire Chief William Gamble, Community Services Liaison Rosemary Vivero, Senior Secretary Julissa Garcia, Battalion Chief John Maclasky, and several members of the Pomona-area fire station crews, Captain Eric McNamara was presented with the Optimistic Club Pacific Southeast District Respect for Law Award.
The LACoFD congratulates Captain Eric McNamara on this well-deserved recognition and for his continued dedication to the City of Pomona, its residents, youth development.
