The Post fire started in the early afternoon on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Gorman California.
As of Friday, June 28, 2024, the wildfire had consumed over 15,563 acres. There was one reported injury, two properties destroyed, and one property damaged.
Approximately 950 personnel actively worked on the incident protecting and repairing valuable environmental resources and habitat. Firefighters, camp crews, water tenders, and helicopters monitored hot spots within the fire, while patrols focused on heat and smoke around the perimeter. Access to areas of steep terrain and brush were made by shuttle boat and helicopter. Using these dynamic techniques helped to maintain and expand control lines in rough and steep terrain.
Throughout the wildfire, the LACoFD operated in unified command with CAL FIRE, the Angeles National Forest, Los Padres National Forest, and Ventura County Fire Department. Cooperating partners included the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management, California State Park, California Highway Patrol, American Red Cross, Southern California Edison, and more to extinguish the fire.
