The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Peer Support Team received the Meritorious Service Team Award at the fourth annual Public Safety Peer Support Association’s (PSPSA) Wellness on the Frontline Conference in San Diego on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.

The Department’s Peer Support Team received the Meritorious Service Team Award for its diligence in serving others and rendering excellent peer support services in 2018.

“For the LACoFD Peer Support Team to receive a nationally recognized award is a great honor,” said Fire Captain Scott Ross, Peer Support Coordinator. “I thank Local 1014 for the support. Our goal is to continue to provide the best service to members of the Department and to folks outside of Los Angeles County.”

The PSPSA focuses on developing programs that enhance training in post-traumatic stress (PTS), suicide and first responder wellness. PSPSA was founded on the belief that there is help available through peer support.
