The Los Angeles County Fire Museum hosted a public Open House honoring the life, career, and enduring legacy of Randolph “Randy” Mantooth on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Bellflower, California.
This event, open to current and retired County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) personnel, fans, and the public, included special displays, and an opportunity for guests to share stories and sign a remembrance book going to Randy’s family. Some guests even wore their favorite fire department or “Emergency!” shirt in honor of the actor that became an ambassador for the fire service.
Best known for portraying LACoFD Fire Fighter Paramedic Johnny Gage in the iconic television series “Emergency!”, Randy inspired generations of people to pursue careers in emergency services. His portrayal of Paramedic Johnny Gage helped introduce millions of viewers to the emerging paramedic profession and the importance of emergency medical services throughout the nation.
Randy was a longtime advocate for firefighter health and safety, an incredible supporter of the Los Angeles County Fire Museum and Department.
The LACoFD extends our gratitude for his influence on the fire service, emergency medicine, and the countless lives he inspired and will continue to inspire.
