On Thursday, January 25, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) held a formal graduation to celebrate Recruit Class 171 at the Cecil R. Gehr Memorial Combat Training Center at Department headquarters in East Los Angeles.
LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone, the Executive team, and the Recruit Training Cadre honored the 47 graduates’ successful completion of the 87-day LACoFD Firefighter Training Academy.
“Congratulations, Recruit Class 171! Remember, you are more than a firefighter… You will not only be a proud protector of life and property, but a caregiver, provider, counselor, and even a mentor,” said Chief Marrone as he addressed the graduates. “Each of you entered Recruit Class 171 as individuals, but today, after 87 days of training, you leave and graduate as a team. I encourage all of you to maintain the same level of pride, passion, and enthusiasm that you walked in with and carry that throughout your career.”
Family and friends applauded as each graduate received their official LACoFD firefighter badges and proudly recited the Firefighter’s Oath to faithfully serve the community as a County of Los Angeles Firefighter.
The next day, Recruit Class 171 began their first assignments at their respective at their fire stations.
Congratulations and best wishes to the following graduates of Class 171!
