Wednesday, August 30, 2023, marked the 14-year anniversary of the line of duty deaths of Fire Captain Tedmund “Ted” Hall and Fire Fighter Specialist (FFS) Arnaldo “Arnie” Quinones.

Captain Hall and FFS Quinones made the ultimate sacrifice while battling the Station Fire at Camp 16. The team was assisting with fire suppression when their vehicle tumbled 800 feet down a canyon in Mount Gleason outside Palmdale in 2009.

At the time of their deaths, Captain Hall was 47 years old with 26 years of dedicated service and FFS Quinones was 35 years old with eight years of dedicated service.

The Station Fire burned for over a month and scorched more than 160,000 acres.

To honor Captain Hall and FFS Quinones’ lives and legacy, an “All Call” was activated by the Los Angeles Communications Center at 1700 hours; encouraging all on-duty personnel to participate in a moment of silence.

The Department is honored to have had such courageous individuals serve the communities and residents of Los Angeles County. We shall never forget them and their sacrifice.
