On Thursday, February 24, 2022, family, friends, and colleagues gathered to honor Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Captain Steven McCann at a flag ceremony held at Fire Station 166 in the City of El Monte.

On Thursday, February 24, 2022, family, friends, and colleagues gathered to honor Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Captain Steven McCann at a flag ceremony held at Fire Station 166 in the City of El Monte.

The next day, on Friday, February 25, a memorial service for Captain McCann also took place at Calvary Chapel Golden Springs in Diamond Bar.

Captain McCann passed away on duty after receiving a 9-1-1 emergency response at Fire Station 166 on Wednesday, February 9.

Known for being a traveler, adventurous, and a great cook, Captain McCann was 48 years old and dedicated more than 16 years of faithful service to the community. He is survived by his mother, three daughters, grandchild, and siblings.

Captain McCann was a highly respected and esteemed LACoFD firefighter who truly embodied our core values of courage, caring, commitment, community, integrity, and teamwork while on- and off-the job.

Captain McCann will be tremendously missed by all of us – and we will never forget him.
