On Thursday, June 6, 2024, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Chief Anthony Marrone participated in the 15th annual State of the County Public Safety Panel hosted by Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce in the City of Valencia.

A panel of County leaders featuring LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony Marrone, Los Angeles County Chief Executive Officer Fesia Davenport, and Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Undersheriff April Tardy discussed critical public safety matters impacting the region while being moderated by Supervisor Barger.

This year’s discussion revolved around issues like mental health challenges, the increasing problem of homelessness, the urgency for more law enforcement personnel, and ensuring resources are readily available to safeguard residents and properties in anticipation of wildfire season.

During the presentation, Chief Marrone shared a comprehensive overview addressing critical issues related to wildfires, focusing on the importance and significance of Fire Hazard Severity Zones. He further discussed the potential impact of the State of California’s budget proposal on LACoFD operations, the preparedness efforts and resources being secured for the upcoming wildfire season, and he underscored the collaborative strategies in place between LACoFD and LASD during emergencies situations to ensure the well-being and safety of residents and communities within the region.

The LACoFD is extremely grateful to Supervisor Barger for her leadership and unwavering commitment to public safety.
