Since early September 2024, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) team members played an instrumental role responding and managing multiple wildfires, from the air and ground affecting Southern California region.
Demonstrating remarkable bravery and unwavering commitment, LACoFD personnel battled the Bridge and the Line Fire. The Bridge Fire scorched over 54,000 acres across Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County which led to mandatory evacuations in the Mt. Baldy and Wrightwood areas. Currently, firefighters and camp crews are actively containing the Line Fire. At 79 percent containment, this fire has burned over 43,000 acres in San Bernardino County.
As one of the premier County’s in the nation, the LACoFD remains resilient and prepared to do what is necessary to aggressively fight wildfires. With access to a comprehensive array of ground and aerial resources, LACoFD dispatchers, firefighters, and the Air and Wildland Division team are prepared and ready to respond to any imminent threats.
Safeguarding residents, communities, essential communication and power infrastructures remain the LACoFD’s utmost priority. It is important for community members to remain vigilant and be prepared for wildfires in fire prone areas.
The LACoFD implores residents living in wildfire areas to be prepared and to learn how to protect their families and homes by developing a personalized Ready! Set! Go! Wildfire Action Plan, available on the LACoFD website
at fire.lacounty.gov/RSG.
The LACoFD extends its gratitude to the many members at the Los Angeles Communications Center and on the front lines for their resilience and commitment that reflects their dedication in serving residents and communities.
