On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Ashley Weiss, daughter of fallen County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Fighter Dale R. Weiss (1995) and Family Support Group Coordinator Ingrid Weiss, received a first-class escort from Engine 62 firefighters to her wedding ceremony.

Upon arrival at the Padua Hills Theatre in the City of Claremont, Ashley was greeted by her mother, Ingrid, along with retired Fire Fighter Paramedic and Chaplain Jake Ching.  It was a great honor for Chaplain Ching to escort Ashley and Ingrid down the walkway and to the upper courtyard.  Following the handoff of Ashley to her stepfather, Jeff, Chaplain Ching proudly walked Ingrid down the aisle to be sat next to the seat reserved for Ashley’s dad Dale which held a LACoFD firefighter turnout jacket and helmet.

Ashley was honored to meet her groom, Montie, at the altar where they exchanged wedding vows and were proudly pronounced to their family and guests for the very first time as husband and wife.

The wedding date selected by Ashley and Montie held a very special meaning for the couple, as the date marked the 65th birthday of Ashley’s dad, Dale.  Congrats to the newlyweds, Ashley and Montie!

The LACoFD extends its profound appreciation to Engine 62, Division 2, the Executive Support Division, and Chaplain’s Office for surrounding Ashley with the love and care of her Fire Department family and ensuring Dale’s endearing memory was present on this special day.  As a valued and treasured member of the Family Support Group, the Department would also like to acknowledge and offer its deepest gratitude to Ingrid for serving as one of three lead coordinators in supporting and bonding with fellow widowers and parents that too have lost a loved one in the line of duty or active duty passing.
