On Sunday, August 11, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) heartbreakingly shared the active-duty death of Fire Fighter Paramedic (FFPM) Dustin M. Roberto, Fire Station 93-A, Battalion 17.

FFPM Roberto was 34 years of age and died on August 10, 2024, at his home in Arizona following a short-term illness.

Dustin was a dedicated member of the LACoFD having served nearly five years protecting the lives and property of residents and communities across the County.  He was a LACoFD Explorer (Post 6) from 2010 through 2013.  After graduating high school, Dustin was hired by AMR and worked in the Santa Clarita Valley.  In 2016, he accepted a position with West Metro Fire and Rescue in Colorado before rejoining the LACoFD as a firefighter in 2020.  As a LACoFD firefighter paramedic, Dustin worked out of Fire Station 93 in the City of Palmdale, proudly serving the residents and community.

Growing up in Santa Clarita, Dustin was surrounded by immense love and support from his devoted parents, Deborah, and Joe Roberto, alongside his siblings, Susanne, and Brian.  He was happily married to his wife Mariah, a loving couple eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child, a baby boy set to be born in December.  They had just recently celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary.  Dustin cherished being a husband, son, brother, and was ecstatic about becoming a father.  He had a flare for adventure and enjoyed travelling the world.

Dustin was a dedicated firefighter – he poured every ounce of caring into his daily work and was a consummate professional.  He touched countless lives, and his passing is felt deeply by all who knew him, including his County and Fire Department family.

The LACoFD together with the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors and President Dave Gillotte of IAFF Local 1014, extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the Roberto family during this extraordinarily difficult time.

A flag ceremony and memorial service are planned for early September.
