On August 6, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) announced the passing of Cajun, a loyal and dedicated urban search and rescue (USAR) canine (K-9) assigned to his handler, Fire Fighter Specialist (FFS) Josh Flores, Fire Station 187.

On Friday, July 5, 2024, at eleven human years of age, Cajun transitioned into a peaceful journey after bravely battling cancer.  Cajun, a beloved and highly skilled USAR K-9, was trained and certified with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and served as a dedicated member of California Task Force 2.  Cajun made a profound impact throughout his career until retirement on November 9, 2022, where he was honored at Fire Station 187, in the City of Pomona, as a lifeline canine.

The LACoFD expresses its heartfelt condolences to FFS Flores, his family, and friends.  Cajun will be missed by all who loved and worked with him.
