On Friday, December 6, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) proudly hosted a graduation ceremony for Recruit Class 174 at the Cecil R. Gehr Memorial Combat Training Center at Department Headquarters.
Family and friends were filled with joy as they watched the 56 recruits proudly take an oath to protect and serve Los Angeles County after receiving their official LACoFD badges from Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone and the Executive Team.
“Each of you entered Recruit Academy 174 as individuals, but, today after 86 days of training, you leave as a team,” said Chief Marrone as he addressed Recruit Class 174. “The strength and success of our great Fire Department is built upon the fortitude of our members who remain resilient, faithful, and committed to our core values and our mission of protecting lives, the environment, and property.”
Recruit Class 174 consists of 23 paramedics, 22 fire suppression aids, and one female who is a United States Navy veteran. The Department is proud of each graduate for diligently completing the 86-day LACoFD firefighter training academy and wishes them well on their new assignments which officially begin the next day, December 7, 2024.
