Congressmember Norma Torres took a brief tour of Los Angeles County Fire Station 182 in the City of Pomona on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, before presenting a check to the Department; the check is funding from a grant that will be used to purchase life-saving devices.

In April 2022, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department submitted a grant application to Congressmember Torres’ office to purchase three Zoll X-Series Advanced Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators and three Lund University Cardiopulmonary Assist Systems (LUCAS) devices; LUCAS devices provide mechanical chest compressions for cardiac arrest patients.

The grant request was fulfilled and Congressmember Torres personally delivered the check for more than $200,000 to the Department.

A former 9-1-1 dispatcher, Congressmember Torres was able to get a demonstration of the life-saving devices that will benefit the communities and residents served in and around the City of Pomona.
