The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) congratulates explorers for successfully completing the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training held on Saturday, February 1 and 8, 2025, at the Headquarters Training Center, located in unincorporated East Los Angeles.  This training is timely as it was offered to explorers during American Heart Month.

A total of 76 explorers successfully completed the training course and earned their CPR certification card.  Through an informative four-hour course, Training and Emergency Medical Services Bureau (TEMSB) nurse educators actively engaged explorers in the CPR curriculum which included distinguishing the difference between heart attacks and cardiac arrests, administering chest compressions, assessing responsiveness, and utilizing life-saving equipment like the automatic external defibrillator.

The LACoFD extends its heartfelt appreciation to the exemplary cadre of EMS nurse educators, led by Education Program Director Paula LaFarge, for their dedication, and to the explorers for committing their time to learn essential life-saving skills and knowledge that will enable them to be heart heroes at home and in their communities.
