Firefighter of the Year 1024 768 LACoFD Communications Section

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Captain David Dombrowski was honored as Firefighter of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #9148 in the City of La Mirada.

Members of VFW Post 9148, California State Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco representing the 64th Assembly District, and LACoFD colleagues expressed their gratitude to Fire Captain Dombrowski during the Law Enforcement and First Responder Appreciation event.

Fire Captain Dombrowski is a 21-year member of the LACoFD, with 33 years of experience as a first responder. Currently assigned to Fire Station 49 in La Mirada, Fire Captain Dombrowski is considered a well-balanced leader in the fire service, embodies the greatest of integrity and care for others, and demonstrates a strong commitment to providing life safety and emergency services to the communities he serves.

When not on duty, Fire Captain Dombrowski can be found fostering teamwork with a youth soccer team he coaches, travelling the world, and spending time with his daughter who is currently attending the University of California Santa Barbara majoring in Brain Sciences.

The LACoFD extends its deepest gratitude and congratulates Fire Captain Dombrowski on receiving this recognition.
