For the consecutive third year, the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Health Hazardous Materials Division (HHMD) competed in the 7th annual Los Angeles County Dragon Boat Festival at the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area in the City of Irwindale on Saturday, October 5, 2019. This year, 18 team members made up the “Toxic Crew” which took home second place in the public service division.

LACoFD Deputy Chief John Todd and HHMD Chief Mario Tresierras cheered on the Toxic Crew as they paddled to the finish line as part of HHMD’s Health and Wellness Program to promote health and fitness within the Department.

The crew raced in two boats which consisted of employees from HHMD, the Financial Management Division, Training Services Division and Public Information Office. They competed against 13 other public service agencies.

HHMD thanks the Department’s Community Outreach, Recruitment, Diversity, and Inclusion Section for its support as well as every crew member for a memorable race.
