Recently, two Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) firefighters were honored for their outstanding public service in the community.

On Thursday, October 31, 2019, KNX 1070 Newsradio named LACoFD Fire Fighter (FF) Francisco “Paco” Lomeli of Fire Station 16 in Watts as its “KNX Hero of the Week”. A former United States Marine, FF Lomeli serves as a big brother and mentor to children in the Watts community.

“I’ve been on calls and the kids see me and say ‘Hey Paco!’,” said FF Lomeli. “In low income areas, the people are more reluctant to call us when they have needs. So, knowing them and having that relationship with them lets them know that we’re here to help.”

Fire Fighter Paramedic (FFPM) Doug Campbell received recognition as the Lucas Oil “Hero of the Night” at the Ontario Reign’s hockey game on Friday, November 1. FFPM Campbell has over 31 years of service with the Department and volunteers as a chaplain.

Congratulations to these local heroes!
