LACoFD Explorers Earn CERT Achievement Certification 1024 582 LACoFD Communications Section

On Saturday, January 27, 2024, 71 County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Explorers completed the
20-hour Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training and earned a certificate of completion at LACoFD Headquarters.

The LACoFD held a special CERT completion ceremony for the Explorers. Parents, guardians, and friends attended the ceremony to see each Explorer receive their certificates from Fire Chief Anthony Marrone, Deputy Fire Chief Robert Harris and the CERT cadre.

For three consecutive Saturdays, beginning January 13 to January 27, 2024, these dedicated Explorers learned hands-on skills in disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, search and rescue, and team organization.

In the event of an emergency, these Explorers are now equipped with the necessary skills to care for themselves, their families, and neighbors.

Thank you to Fire Captain Chiyoshi Hasegawa, Fire Fighter Specialist Christopher Freeman, the CERT instructor cadre, and Explorer Committee for ensuring a successful training opportunity for the Department’s Explorers.
