On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, Fifth District Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Acting Fire Chief Anthony C. Chief Marrone emphasized the importance of wildfire preparedness and during this potentially dangerous wildfire season due to of triple-digit temperatures, dry vegetation, strong winds, and extreme drought.

The Department displayed its robust fleet of aerial firefighting resources, including the arrival of Quebec 1 and 2 and the Southern California Edison-sponsored lease of the Coulson Helitanker 55.

For the 29th year, the LACoFD has leased a pair of SuperScoopers from the Government of Quebec for a 90-day period with the option to extend the contract as needed. These aircrafts are leased to help combat major wildfires during the peak of the season.

“Our aircraft and firefighting fleet are not the only resources we depend on to keep residents and communities safe… We encourage and rely on our residents to do their part to help protect themselves, their families, pets, and property,” said Chief Marrone.
