The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) partnered with Westside Regional Center (WRC) on Saturday, May 20, 2023, to host the Sirens of Silence event, “A Day with First Responders”.

This sensory-friendly event welcomed families who have loved ones with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other special needs to meet and engage with public safety partners and health agencies, including a crew from Division I, the Lifeguard Division, California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Culver City Fire Department, Culver City Police Department, Gardena Police Department, Inglewood Police Department, Santa Monica Police Department, and the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation.

Individuals of all ages had the opportunity to see, touch, and try fire and law enforcement gear, apparatus, and equipment in a sensory-sensitive space.

This Sirens of Silence event also featured interaction with LACoFD’s peer support dog, Tiller, and an opportunity to learn Hands-Only CPR.

Thank you to all the participants who joined us!
