This week, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) is highlighting the Risk Management Division (RMD)!
RMD is an outstanding division with 11 hard-working individuals working in the Offices of Safety managed by Fire Captain Noble Robinson, Subpoena and Records managed by Management Fellow Sandra Kessler, and Claims and Litigation managed by Division Chief Julia Kim, who recently became the Division Chief of Human Resources.
Each year, RMD receives and processes thousands of LACoFD records and subpoena requests in addition to housing the Department’s Custodian of Records. This division also works with County Counsel and the Chief Executive Office to protect the Department and its members from risk and liability.
“Much like the rest of the Department, RMD has been significantly impacted by COVID-19 through illnesses, losses, increasing workloads, and staffing shortages,” said Division Chief Kim. ” Although the public-facing office was closed for some time, RMD was not – and continued to personally staff the office while maintaining appropriate social distancing throughout the duration of COVID’s most stringent restrictions. Despite it all, RMD sustained and fostered a collaborative and supportive work environment for one another to ensure that there was office coverage and support, not just for each other but for the Department.”
