On November 7, 2023, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) joined the City of Lakewood’s annual Award of Valor luncheon held at The Centre in Lakewood.
LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone and Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert G. Luna served as keynote speakers and were accompanied by hundreds of guests, business leaders, volunteers, and community members to acknowledge the dedicated work of first responders and hometown heroes.
This year’s Award of Valor honorees, LACoFD Fire Captain Edwin Turner, Fire Fighter Specialists Adolfo Chanez and Joshua Wilson, along with Fire Fighters Ryan Tobin, Thaddeus Thomas and Brandon Penera, were recognized for demonstrating fearless acts of courage, bravery, and heroism while going above and beyond the call of duty.
LACoFD Captain Tim Karp was honored with the Distinguished Service Award for his commitment to service and significant contributions performed throughout his 29-year career serving the communities of Los Angeles County.
“These individuals demonstrate the tenets for which our Department stands: protecting lives, the environment, and property for County residents,” said Chief Marrone.
Each year, public safety professionals and members of the community are honored for their heroism and extraordinary public safety service.
The Department sends its appreciation and accolades to each honoree for their exemplary service.
