County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone was joined by the Sereno family, Executive Team members, and Department personnel to honor the life of Information Technology Manager I Brett “Tony” Sereno.
On Friday, February 27, 2026, a flag ceremony was held at the LACoFD Headquarters, where Tony’s wife, Carmela, was presented with an American flag from Chief Marrone. Two days later, a Celebration of Life was held at the Thousand Oaks Inn where family, friends, and co-workers gathered to celebrate the life of Tony.
“Tony served the Fire Department’s Information Management Division with steady leadership, technical excellence, and a deep commitment to service,” said Chief Marrone. “Driven and devoted, Tony treasured every moment with his family, extended relatives, and friends. While this loss is deeply felt, we find comfort in remembering the incredible joy Tony brought to our lives.”
Tony unexpectedly passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026. He faithfully served the Department for over five years – through his leadership, he not only managed technology, but he also built trust, developed people, and left behind systems and ideas that will continue to serve others for years to come.
Tony will always be remembered by his LACoFD family and countless others who knew him. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Tony’s wife, Carmela; their daughters, Emily and Hannah; and sons, Steven, Jonathan, and Alex.
