On Saturday, December 20, 2025, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Explorers listed below successfully passed their evaluation of skills and physical test, earning the position of “Certified Explorer.”

Over the past 12 to 24 months, these Explorers diligently worked to complete their Task Books which included fire station familiarization, apparatus familiarization, hose and hardware, hose lays, self-contained breathing apparatus, ladders, ropes and knots, fireground operations, emergency medical services, truck operations, and wildland operations.
Additionally, many of our newly certified Explorers also successfully completed the 20-hour Community Emergency Response Team and eight-hour cardiopulmonary resuscitation training, participated in the annual Explorer drill and muster, and volunteered at numerous Department and community events.
In addition to earning their “Certified” patch, newly certified Explorers will receive additional personal protective equipment and can participate in 12-hour ride-alongs outside of their assigned division.
