Second Annual First Responders Panel in Partnership with the SG/PRC 1024 683 LACoFD Communications Section

In partnership with the San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center (SG/PRC), the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) participated in the second annual First Responders Panel. This virtual panel discussion was held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

LACoFD Dr. Puneet Gupta and Fire Captain Sheila Kelliher were joined by first responders from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Pomona Police Department to discuss the Department’s Sirens of Silence program, proactive communication, and quality care practices to better serve individuals with autism or other special needs.

Families, caregivers, and individuals with special needs had the opportunity to ask questions as well as share their feelings and ideas of how they would like first responders to care for themselves and their loved ones.

The SG/PRC is one of 21 regional centers throughout California that locally assist and support more than more than 14,000 families within its service area.

Created for and by Department team members, the LACoFD is proud to share its award-winning autism and special needs awareness, education and inclusion program, Sirens of Silence!
