Spinks Canyon Prescribed Pile Burn

On Wednesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 21, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) conducted a successful prescribed pile burn at Spinks Canyon in the Bradbury-Duarte area.

On Wednesday, March 20, and Thursday, March 21, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) conducted a successful prescribed pile burn at Spinks Canyon in the Bradbury-Duarte area.

The LACoFD initiated the prescribed burn to reduce excess fuel load from recent brush abatement work completed in the Spinks Canyon area. Fire personnel were onsite to monitor and patrol the burn area throughout the week.

Quick Facts on Pile Burning:

• Ensure proper tools/water, and trained personnel are always onsite.
• Bare mineral soil clearance at least 10’ wide around each pile.
• Only done on “burn days” set by the local Air Pollution Control District with State and local fire
authority rules and regulations observed.
