On Tuesday, April 24, 2025, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) joined in the Los Angeles County’s annual “Take Our Young People to Work Day.”

Designed to provide future generations with invaluable learning experiences about public service and community pride, this day also provided youth the opportunity to learn more about potential career pathways, especially in the fire service.

Department personnel, including parents, relatives and mentors, were invited to bring a young person between the ages of 9 to 16 to take part in the day’s enriching educational opportunities. Throughout the day, young guests participated and observed firefighters on duty, assisted professional staff, and explored the inner workings of various departmental operations.

Over 35 youth participated in a field trip to the Lifeguard Division Headquarters in Manhattan Beach. During the visit, participants visited the Roundhouse Aquarium on the Manhattan Beach Pier, engaged with lifeguards on the beach, and learned more about the Division’s operations from Lifeguard Captain Gevorg Akopyan.

To this year’s cohort of young leaders, the LACoFD offers its deepest gratitude for joining in the activities, as well the families and mentors of these youth for encouraging them to participate in another successful “Take Our Young People to Work Day.”

The LACoFD extends its best wishes to these young people in their journeys toward promising careers in their near future.
