On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) participated in “Take Our Young People to Work Day,” an annual event observed by all departments within the County of Los Angeles.
Adopted by the Board of Supervisors, this initiative serves as an educational experience for youth to gain insight and explore the inner workings of professional work environments throughout the County.
Annually, the LACoFD welcomes young visitors, offering them a unique opportunity to spend the day with their parents/legal guardians, relatives, dedicated workforce members, and mentors. This day is designed to be a valuable learning experience that fosters a sense of community pride and inspires young leaders seeking to pursue career pathways, especially in the fire service.
Throughout the day, our young guests were offered opportunities to observe firefighters on duty, assist professional staff with various tasks and projects, and explore the inner workings of our Business and Emergency Operations. An additional “Take Our Young People to Work Day” is being planned for June which will include tours of our Lifeguard Division, 9-1-1 Communications Center, Fire Station 1, and end with a visit with our Air Operations team and Fire Chief.
The LACoFD sends its deepest gratitude to these young leaders for joining us this year and extends best wishes in their journey toward leveraging successful careers in their near future.
