Winter Rainstorm Response

Winter Rainstorm Response

Winter Rainstorm Response 150 150 Colton Lucas

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department acknowledges and conveys our appreciation to all Department personnel for their response to the recent storms over the Christmas and New Year holidays. As the rain and wind swept across Los Angeles County, triggering flash floods and mud and debris flows, team members responded with great skill, professionalism, and courage.

From Christmas Eve and into Christmas day, our dispatchers fielded over 4,087 9-1-1 calls, and our Air Operations and ground-based firefighters skillfully navigated treacherous conditions to rescue over 100 people. Sadly, one individual did not survive when their vehicle was overcome by flash flooding in Lancaster.

Thank you to all Department personnel for your continued commitment and service to our residents and communities. The Executive Team and management are proud of the collective work performed in collaboration with our public safety partners during these life-threatening winter storms.
