Women’s History Month Spotlight

Women’s History Month Spotlight 1024 683 Layla Romero

County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Acting Assistant Fire Chief Jessica Post and Battalion Chief Brenda Simonian were featured in the March 2024 edition of Lakewood Community News.

As part of Women’s History Month, Chiefs Post and Simonian were recognized for their work in the Department. Together, they are the first women to lead Division four and Battalion nine, respectively.

Chiefs Post and Simonian are grateful for the recognition and acknowledge that they are in these roles because they were fortunate to serve under fire captains who trained them and believed in their abilities.

During an interview with the Lakewood Community News, both Chief Post and Simonian expressed live and breathe the LACoFD. As rigorous as the job is, the Chiefs revealed they would do it all over again.

In recognition of Women’s History Month, Chief Post encourages women to “do what you love, persevere, and have those internal wins.”

The LACoFD is proud to recognize Chiefs Post and Simonian for their hard work, dedicated years of service, and countless contributions.
