On Thursday, March 14, 2024, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Battalion 15 firefighters responded to an early morning residential structure fire in the City of Pomona.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a one-story single-family dwelling with heavy smoke showing. Fortunately, the mother was home with her three children when the fire occurred, and she managed to get the children out safely. Unfortunately, the family did suffer a loss as their dog succumbed to smoke inhalation.

The fire started in the oldest son’s bedroom, and the home was determined uninhabitable due to fire, smoke, and water damage. Although the family accepted American Red Cross assistance and were issued a SAVE Card, Battalion 15 firefighters were touched by the family’s circumstances.

After the incident, Battalion 15 firefighters graciously collected items they felt would help the family during their challenging time. On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the local battalion chief, and firefighters from Fire Stations 182, 183, 184, 185, 186, and 188 scheduled a follow up visit with the Causey family.

The family was extremely grateful and surprised the firefighters took the time to show this kind of support. LACoFD Division 8 would like to thank Battalion Chief Kevin Grayson and the A Shift Battalion 15 firefighters for the hometown attentiveness and care extended to the Causey family.
