The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) participated in two Fourth of July holiday safety news conferences to promote fireworks safety and encourage community members to attend professional fireworks shows.

On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, LACoFD Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Sprengel participated in the annual Santa Clarita fireworks safety news conference with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Clarita City Council, and other public safety agencies.

On Friday, June 30, the Department joined the Los Angeles City Fire Department and several local fire agencies to further emphasize the significance of attending professional firework shows and using Safe and Sane fireworks.

Both news conferences showed the possible dangers associated with the use of fireworks through a professional pyrotechnician who facilitated live demonstrations.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission’s 2022 Fireworks Annual Report, there were 11 deaths and 10,200 fireworks-related injuries treated throughout the country in 2022.

Leave the fireworks to the professionals!
