On Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 12:37 p.m., County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle over the side of the road located near mile marker 3.30 on Mount Baldy Road in Angeles National Forest. Upon arrival, LACoFD firefighters discovered one vehicle over the side of the road approximately one hundred feet down the mountain.

A LACoFD paramedic was immediately inserted via the air squad to assess the condition of the patient and initiate triage and treatment. First responders determined the patient had gone over the side between three to five days prior. The patient was assessed, determined to be in moderate distress, and airlifted to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Firefighters were initially responding to another incident on Mount Baldy when they were flagged down by a Good Samaritan who found the vehicle over the side.

The LACoFD extends its gratitude to the firefighters, partner agencies, and Good Samaritan for their swift response efforts that resulted in a successful rescue.
