On Friday, December 5, 2025, the Pomona Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Holiday for Heroes Luncheon at the Fuego Metro Events Center in the City of Pomona. This annual event celebrates the extraordinary accomplishments of local first responders and public safety officials.

As part of this year’s luncheon, two County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) firefighters were recognized for their dedicated service. Fire Captains Steven Chavez and Brook Gage were honored, alongside Pomona Police Department Officers Dejon Miller and Yasmine Rodriguez, and United States Army Veteran Arely Moreno.

Captain Chavez, who began his fire service career in 2003, was recognized for his leadership, service, and dedication to the safety of residents in the City of Pomona. He was also recognized for his work training prospective firefighters at the LACoFD’s East County Training Center.

With over 15 years of LACoFD service, Captain Gage was recognized for his dedicated leadership and community service to City of Pomona residents and recognized for his work with the Explorer program, where he has provided mentorship for City of Pomona youth interested in pursuing a career in the fire service.

The LACoFD is proud of the accomplishments of Captains Chavez and Gage, and recognizes their commitment to protecting lives, the environment and property in the City of Pomona, and throughout Los Angeles County.
